Aroldis Chapman pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball tests positive for coronavirus. He is the third from the team to have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Yankees’ manager, Aaron Boone’s statement.

After the test came out to be positive, Yankees’ manager said that Chapman would not be available with the team, “for the foreseeable future.” The six-time All-Star pitcher is experiencing only mild symptoms with no major signs of risk. But, before he could rejoin the team, the tests should be negative for the 32-year-old Yankees champion.

After a late arrival, Chapman had tossed twice in the bullpen and has been working out in Yankee Stadium, however, he has not taken part in intrasquad games for the club. There aren’t any speculations that this situation will have any impact on increasing the number of positive cases on the roaster.

Yankees’ manager, Aaron Boone said that “We’re following all protocols. We have not had any other positive tests. We’ve adhered to all the contact tracing, so, we feel like we've handled it and are handling it. This is something that, even moving forward, a positive test is probably going to come our way. It's about doing all the things that hopefully as a whole keep us safe and healthy. But right now, we feel like we're doing a good job here of managing it.”

About Aroldis Chapman.

The New York Yankees Aroldis Chapman is a Cuban-born American professional baseball pitcher. Previously, he had also played for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and for the Cuban National Series for Holguín. Chapman has been nicknamed by his team as the Cuban Flame Thrower & the Cuban Missile. For the Cuban national baseball, Chapman pitched both internationally & domestically for Holguín. In 2009, he defected from Cuba, and later on, in 2010, signed a contract with the Reds. He debuted for Major League Baseball in the same season.

In 2012, July event he became the most fantastic relief pitcher and won the MLB Delivery Man of the Month Award. Later on, for the seasons 2012 to 2015, he was named to four straight National League All-Star teams. After the 2015 season, he was traded to the Yankees by the Reds, and later to the Cubs during the 2016 season. Playing with the Cubs, in the 2016 World Series, he won Game 7 after which Chapman began his association with the Yankees.

Chapman is also known for having broken the record of Bruce which was for the most consecutive relief appearances with a strikeout. In 40-consecutive appearances, he struck out at least one batter. He also shares the record of the fastest recorded pitch speed in MLB history, with Jordan Hicks, and is also known for the Guinness World Record for the fastest baseball pitch.

MLB 2020 Operations Manual.

The New York Yankees Chapman is the only third player from the team who has tested positive. Per the announcement he is showing very little symptoms and is stable. Those who are working in close contact with the MLB players are also being regularly tested for COVID-19. In accordance with this protocol, the right-hand pitcher’s personal trainers underwent the test which came out to be negative.

In a previous test administered on the team before heading to New York, in accordance with the MLB protocols, Yankees pitcher Luis Cessa & infielder DJ LeMahieu were tested positive for coronavirus. Chapman successfully passed that round of testing upon which he was working out at the Yankee Stadium. In fact, after throwing two bullpen sessions, he also expressed his happiness about feeling game-ready.

The MLB and the players’ association have already agreed on the “2020 Operations Manual,” which consists of a set of rules and regulations to keep a check on the spread of coronavirus. However, there are no defined protocols that can completely eliminate the risk of falling prey to coronavirus infection. Anyone who is COVID-19 infected is immediately self quarantined and is treated for the condition in accordance with the manual.

All the three players who have tested positive have authorized the league to divulge their names. However, the team does not reserve the right to divulge the names of players who are tested positive for coronavirus. Let's hope they return soon to the camp with the negative test results.
