The Memphis Grizzles are currently enduring a morality scorching scandal that is sure to cause a long-term P.R. hit for the team, unease anyone who hears about it as well as raise serious and important questions about the team’s employee vetting and evaluation process.

According to information reported by the Sporting News, The Memphis, Tennessee Police Department issued four arrest warrants for Rick Trotter, the Memphis Grizzles’ public announcer at FedEx Form since 2006, on several counts of, “photographing without consent.”

The 40-year old Trotter is accused of clandestinely videotaping or photographing up the skirts of at least three female church patrons at the Downtown Church in Memphis during church services.

Memphis Police have been investigating the lechery and invasion of privacy claims at Downtown Church since late May of this year. Trotter, who is also a Christian music-themed singer and rapper, was also a former employee of the Downtown Church.

Reports from the Grio.com and WREG state that Trotter was caught red-handed in May kneeling behind a woman, while in the midst of church services and trying to video record under her skirt with his cell phone camera.

Trotter allegedly also stored disturbing upskirt videos and photos of unwitting church patrons on the church’s business laptop computer.

More charges may follow. The Memphis Police Department issued the four warrants for Rick Trotter’s arrest on July 9th, 2016. Trotter was arrested by Memphis Police hours after the arrest warrants were issued.

The Downtown Church of Memphis, Tennessee issued a full statement on Twitter that informed readers that Trotter was fired in late May of 2016 and that the Church is cooperating fully with the policy investigation.

The Downtown Church Twitter statement read in part, “We, the elders of the Downtown Church, are deeply saddened to announce that, effective May 27, Rick Trotter was terminated as an employee of Downtown Church. This was the result of deception and moral failures of a sexual nature.”

The church has pledged to offer emotional, spiritual and financial aid to Trotter’s family, as Trotter is married with children.

The Memphis Grizzles cut ties with Trotter as soon as the matter came to light in May 2016. However, they did not make their internal actions publicly known until Trotter’s arrest was made public, perhaps wanting to wait as long as possible before airing out such distasteful and disturbing allegations.

The official statement from the Memphis Grizzles regarding Trotter’s arrest states in part, “Rick Trotter is no longer affiliated with the Grizzles organization. We have no further comment on the matter.”

As the story gains more attention, the Grizzles may not be able to get away with such an curt replay. Questions concerning Trotter’s behavior and the Grizzle’s employee vetting and performance evaluation system will surely come into public focus in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Trotter has been stuck in jail since his arrest. He is being held on a $70,000 bond.

This story will be updated on Sportsreviews.com as more information is made available.
