Is Joe Hart Safe At Manchester City This Season?

Author: Raphael Minter

Joe Hart has been the heart of Manchester City for the past six seasons as he has helped the team to two Premier League titles and in the process has become England’s number one goalkeeper. Pep Guardiola’s tactics and selections have raised many concerns and this was evident Hart’s omission from the Starting XI for Manchester City’s league opener against Sunderland on Saturday. Is the England number one safe at Manchester City?

Pep Guardiola has fallen out with many of his player’s right from the start of his managerial campaign and in the subsequent seasons he has managed them. He has been in such situations at FC Barcelona preferring Sergio Busquets Burgos to Yaya Toure at FC Barcelona and deploying Lionel Messi at the focal point of attack much to the surprise of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and at Bayern Munich dropping midfielders and playing Philip Lahm in a defensive midfield role which was criticized by many pundits.

Guardiola is known for his possessive play and his team being in control of the games that it plays and he requires goalkeepers with great ball control to connect defenders straight to attackers. At Barcelona he had Victor Valdes and at FC Bayern Munich he had Manuel Neuer who doubles up as a sweeper for Bayern and the German National Team.

Joe Hart is a goalkeeper who is not known for his ball controlling skills and it is no fault of his because the intensity of the Premiership does not give goalkeepers the freedom to exercise and showcase their passing skills to fans and managers alike.

Pep Guardiola wants to win come what may but to bench England’s number one goalkeeper in the opener of the Premiership shows that Joe Hart’s safety as Manchester City’s number one shot stopper might be on the line.

Joe Hart Contemplating About Future Due to Claudio Bravo Rumours

Several outlets have been reporting that Barcelona stopper and Chile’s number one goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is set for Manchester City as he fits the style and system of Pep Guardiola. If these transfer rumours are to be true then it leaves Hart with an in-out situation whereby he plays today with no guarantee of featuring for the side tomorrow.

Pep Guardiola has seen it all in football but the English Premiership is set at a high tempo and goalkeepers are not needed to contribute massively to attacking play. If Hart is relegated to the bench just because of his ball control and passing skills this would become one of the poorest decisions in football because Cavallero is far from his best and his passing skills cannot save the shots that would be coming to his goal in this intense season.

Joe Hart is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and should be treated with the maximum respect.
