Kenley Jansen Returns to Action, Passes Two Necessary Tests

Author: Sonali

Kenley Geronimo Jansen, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitcher reported to the camp on July 14. Jansen was prevented from participating in the workout session with the team after he got tested positive for coronavirus. There were many speculations going around when there was no official announcement on why Jansen could not join the team as early as planned. The reason was known only after he made an announcement after he passed the two necessary tests that are necessary to rejoin the team and return to action.

Jansen’s Spring Training 2.0.

With the MLB season’s opening day less than two weeks away, it’s a challenge for the pitcher to be sure about the preparations. Jansen has been pitching to be ready for the July 23 matchup when the San Francisco Giants will be kicking off the season. Jansen has not been able to train himself enough with his team in Spring Training 2.0, it is a challenge to participate as normally as other players who have gotten the time to get themselves ready & relaxed. But for a bullpen pitcher like Jansen who has faced no difficulties throwing the baseball stoppage continuously, the game shape might be less steep than the build-up.

Jansen should be given more time?

The Dodgers’ deep bullpen must give Jansen more time to recover and get back to normal. The team can give him options like Joe Kelly and Blake Treinen, who have proved their calibers as veteran relievers to deploy in the ninth inning. For Jansen who has also gone through some heart issues in the past, it is a challenging task for joining the team this soon after recovering from COVID-19. However, Jansen has clarified that issues from the past have not affected him from deciding to participate in the shortened MLB 2020 season. Since he has been playing the MLB, the last MLB 2010 was the worst season for him. However, the declining velocity has not been a good thing for Jansen, but he has been the most successful reliever of the decades in the sport. Let’s hope this deteriorating health condition for Jansen does not affect his game, and we can get to see a bounce-back season from Jansen.
