The Silver Slugger winners & the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are still to be announced on November 5 & November 6 respectively. Something strange that happened was the congratulation wishes coming from the Chicago White Sox Rick Renteria for him being named as the finalist of Manager of the Year. This was strange because Rick Renteria was fired by the team.
Qualifying offers for the biggest stars.
In addition to the announcement of the MLB awards, there are many more developments going on through the team. With the new seasons, while many players could find their new homes, a few of the biggest stars might be retained by their respective teams.
Qualifying offers were given to six of the players including DJ LeMahieu (New York Yankees), J.T. Realmuto (Philadelphia Phillies), George Springer (Houston Astros), Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer, San Francisco Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman, and New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman.
All of these six players would be given ten days within which they can accept or reject the offer. Those players who will be rejecting this offer will become free agents, but the teams that would be signing them will have to pay the draft compensation. All those players who have not been given qualifying offers can be signed by other teams. Surprisingly some of the players who fulfilled the eligibility criterion for the qualifying offer did not receive it -- Andrelton Simmons, Liam Hendriks, Michael Brantley, and Marcus Semien were those names.
