ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays declared on Monday that third baseman Evan Longoria will be triggered from the 60-day disable record before Tuesday's series opener against the Blue Jays. To create room on the Roster, infielder Will Rhymes was optioned to Triple-A Durham. Longoria should provide a considerable offensive increase for the Rays, who have been close out over their last 21 innings. Out since Apr 30 with a partly torn left hamstring, Longoria formerly tried a rehabilitation task in June, but a drawback sidelined him again. He began his second stint with Durham on September 26 and showed up in eight games, all as a specific player. Longoria fought at the plate, going 5-for-25 with seven walks and eight strikeouts, but stuck out twice on Sunday. Manager Joe Maddon formerly said that he will keep use of Longoria as a DH until the hamstring muscle is completely cured. Maddon is worried about fatigue Longoria and does not anticipate him to play every day when he first comes back. In 23 games before damage, Longoria was hitting .329 with four homers and 19 RBIs. The team went 15-8 in those games but is 41-44 since. Rhymes went 0-for-3 in two games in his newest stint in the Majors. He's showed up in 47 games this period, hitting .228. The team will shift to the 40-man roster on Tuesday. You can visit baseball playoff schedule for upcoming events and can buy MLB Tickets online with discount.
