Curt Schilling Removed from Little League Baseball Coverage After Offensive Tweet

Curt Schilling + a Hitler meme = a guaranteed horrible idea.

Schilling’s attempt at commentary likened demographic “statistics” about Muslim extremism to those from Nazi Germany.

He tweeted, "The math is staggering when you get the true #s" along with a photo of Hitler saluting with the words "It's said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How'd that go?"

Schilling deleted the tweet moments after posting it Tuesday morning, and soon scrubbed the shared post (by “BREAK UP the IRS”) from his Facebook page as well.

ESPN suspended Schilling from his duties as a baseball analyst — he was staffed to the Little League World Series, in addition to his spot in the “Sunday Night Baseball” booth — for an indefinite period.

“Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective,” said the ESPN statement released Tuesday afternoon. “We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.”

Schilling offered apologies to a couple of offended followers.
