Do you know how your favorite players have pitched in amidst the coronavirus pandemic to help out people? While during the shelter-in-place, players have not been able to play and continue with their usual schedule, they have been trying to contribute by helping those in need. Measures like lockdown & social distancing have affected the lives of people across the country both economically and emotionally in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. This staggering toll on people’s lives — is not just limited to the US but has affected almost every part of the world. In the meantime when the players are not in the fields, they are finding ways to help those in need. Here’s how some top-notch players are coming up for help:
Alex Bregman.
Alexander David Bregman, the American professional baseball shortstop, and the third baseman for the Houston Astros of the MLB. The third baseman of Astro’s raised funds during a day-long Twitch streaming session. He raised funds for the Houston Food Bank amounting to $60,000 through a Twitch streaming session. Through this streaming session, Alexander along with other sports stars played video games against each other, which resulted in almost 800,000 views. This was a part of Alex Bregman’s $1 million campaign called FEEDHOU, which he launched during April with an aim to feed people in Houston who are most impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
Mike Evans.
Michael Lynn Evans III, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver of the American football, NFA has also pitched in to help those who are in need due to the coronavirus outbreak. He broke into the NFL in 2014 & since then he has been the most underestimated & unappreciated player of the league. He is the only player to have cracked 1,000 yards (0.91 km) in all his first seasons. Not only that, but he is also one of the stars of the coronavirus lockdown season. Through his Mike Evans Family Foundation, he has donated a sum of $100,000. This donated money will split into two equal parts to be distributed among the United Way Suncoast and Galveston. This money will help around 53,000 people in the Tampa area.
Jarvis Landry.
The American football player Jarvis Charles Landry has also pitched in to help those affected by the coronavirus crisis. He is a Cleveland Browns (NBA team) wide receiver. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins during the second round of the 2014 NFL and at Louisiana State University he had also played college football for the LSU Tigers. During the pandemic, Jarvis noticed a crisis for necessities and groceries. Therefore, he is now taking care of East Cleveland School students. He had also donated $15,000 to ensure that these students & their families get all kinds of necessities. About 1300 families would get help from his initiative.

The South Korean professional baseball outfielder, Shin-Soo Choo has also pitched in to help those who are in need during these tough times. He plays for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. In addition, he has also played for Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariner & Cleveland Indians. With his big-league games & a decade-and-a-half long career, Choo had made good money. It is the final year of Shin’s $130 million contracts. Since the Ranger’s minor leaguers have almost no financial security Choo donated $1,000 to each minor leaguer. This will make out a total of $190,000.
Alex Rodriguez.
Alex Rodriguez is also referred to as “A-Rod”, the American former professional baseball third baseman and shortstop. He is known to have played MLB 22 seasons — of which three seasons were with the Texas Rangers, seven with Seattle Mariners, and twelve with the New York Yankees. It sounds a bit uncanny but president Trump had sought advice from Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez (his fiancée) on what measures could help the country deal with COVID-19 and the prevailing situation. Rodriguez contributed with his valuable advice to the president on how to deal with the pandemic.
Conor McGregor.

During this coronavirus pandemic, while he has not been able to showcase his sports skills, he is helping the Atlanta community. The Atlanta Community Food Bank has received a donation amount of $50,000 from Ryan and an amount of $50,000 to the Giving Kitchen. This donation is a big thing for the people who have no food to eat and are dying out of hunger.
Rudy Gobert.
Rudy Gobert-Bourgarel, the basketball player from France has played for NBA’s Utah Jazz. In most International basketball competitions, he also is known for representing the French basketball team. He plays the central position for his 7 ft 9 long wingspans. Gobert is the first from the NBA to have been tested positive for coronavirus. He actually downplayed the seriousness of this condition and during a press conference, he would touch all the microphones, which led him to have caught in the trap of the virus. He made amends for his frivolous behavior by donating an amount of $500,000 to different groups.
More sports stars like Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Correa, Josh Norman, Kevin Love, and more are pitching in to help, in this unfortunate environment of coronavirus pandemic.
