The Start of NBA 2020-21 Season to be Pushed Back

Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, expects the previously decided date of December 1  (the start date for the 2020-21 season) can be pushed back. Adam explained how he thinks that he would want fans to attend the next season. In a statement, he said, "I think our No. 1 goal is to get fans back in our arenas. So my sense is, in working with the National Basketball Players Association, if we could push back even a little longer and increase the likelihood of having fans in arenas, that’s what we would be targeting.”

This arrangement will push the next season further as to when it was expected, which will make it possible for fans to attend the game. This will also help the league to stop the virus from spreading as the effects may lower down until that time. Currently, the coronavirus mayhem is all over, and it has prevented going into crowds, going to concerts, movies, and organizing sporting events. In the United States, the positive cases are growing every day as if the pause button has been pressed forever.

Fans cannot be allowed to attend the sports until there is a proper set of vaccines available in the public domain. However, Silver says that the work in progress for fast-response coronavirus tests would definitely be a positive step towards this development, and it can be a hopeful step towards having fans inside the basketball arena. It is the fan filling arena that makes for almost 40 percent of the leagues’ revenue and without fans in the stadium, the league will not only have to bear huge financial losses, but it will also cause the morale of the players to go down.

NBA Pushing Back December 1 start of 2020-21 season.

This whole pushing back plan has been for the fans to get back into the basketball arena. Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner has said that the expected date for the season 2020-21 of December 1 could be pushed back. In Spite of the fact that the bubble environment has been a success in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, the league is not looking forward to any quarantined campuses.

There are pharmaceuticals & medical research institutions that the NBA is working with for the prevention & management of COVID-19. This is an important step in making it possible for the fans to be in the basketball arena who brings almost 40 percent or around $8 billion of the total revenue of the season. The league is eagerly waiting for vaccine development, and for the vaccine to be available in the public domain.

Apart from that, the league is also working with medical companies for the development of fast-response tests, which would not only be cost-effective, but it will also make public gatherings safe. Silver said "We're watching closely the development of antivirals. There have been some really positive reports about vaccines lately." The owners have decided e about the December 1, for the NBA 2020-21 season since when the pandemic started spreading.

Silver Hopes to see Fans inside the Basketball grounds.

Silver is hopeful of having fans inside the basketball ground. With that in mind and with the NBA draft lottery happening soon, he thinks that the goal for the team as of now is to make it possible for teams to play in their respective home markets. This may not happen by December 1.

Silver had not talked yet about any specified date as to when the 2020-21 season can begin. It looks like the league is ready to wait until it would be possible for fans to attend the season. This is a BIG decision for the league — as almost 40 percent of the revenue of the season comes from the fans’ tickets. It would be financially too draining for the league if they would have to again pay for playing any part of the season in the bubble format. We can hope to see fans during the game at a new date, which the league hopes to announce soon.
