Victor Wanyama has successfully transferred from Southampton to Tottenham Hotspurs. An amount of £11 million pounds was paid by Spurs to capture the services of the Kenya International.
Wanyama’s acquisition is solely to add depth to the squad of Spurs. In the coming season, Tottenham Hotspur would be competing in four competitions, the English Premier League, FA Cup, Capital One Cup and the Uefa Champions League.
Spurs midfielders Eric Dier, Delle Alli, Erik Lamela,Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembélé did a great job last season fighting to the end and they were rewarded with a third place finish in the English League, only Arsenal and Leicester City were better.
Mauricio Pochettino is poised to make a statement in the English Premier League after getting so close last season as well as bettering Tottenham Hotspurs record in the Champions League where the team reached the quarter finals in 2011 and were knocked out by Real Madrid.
Wanyama Would Help Pochettino in the League and Champions League
Pochettino managed Wanyama amid his managerial role at Southampton and as a witness to his defensive attributes in midfield, Tottenham would be able to surge forward without thinking about their defense.
Danny Rose and Kyle Walker had a great Euro though England failed to make an impression at the tournament.
Their overlapping runs leave lapses at the back and Victor Wanyama is there to ease the pressure on the team.
This would free up enough space for Lamela, Dembélé, Alli, Dier and Eriksen to usher out incisive passes and create chances for Harry Kane to finish.
Victor Wanyama is one of the best defensive midfielders in the modern game and Spurs has made a bold step into a season where they aim to surprise many.
