What Next for Brazil After Soccer Gold Win?

Brazil finally won gold for Men’s Soccer on Saturday, the medal that had eluded them in the game of football. The gamble of Neymar exempting himself from the COPA America Centenario to featuring in the RIO Olympics has been justified. This win comes at a time where the Selecao is not in the best of shapes, how does this impact on the nation’s tournaments?

Brazil exited the FIFA World Cup 2014 at the hands of Germany in a 1-7 loss. After the loss, third place was also taken by Netherlands who thrashed the Host Nation by 3-0.

The 2015 COPA America came along and the country was eliminated once again by Paraguay, the country that saw to the same effect at the COPA America in 2011. The United States hosted the COPA 100 and Brazil did not make it past the group stage.

In just two months, the nation’s U-23 side has been able to cross the psychological barrier of not being winners.

For the first time in 14 years, Brazil is off the list of participating teams of the FIFA Confederations Cup that comes off at Russia in 2017 after winning the last editions.

The coach has the ample time to relax in the next summer so as to prepare a formidable team that would improve on the semi-final showing against Germany two years ago.

Brazil is back and if the coach focuses on the willingness and dedication of their youth players, then the country would make a great step in conquering the world in 2018.
