Cardinals Postpone another Series, Positive Cases Continues

Author: Sonali

In the beginning, it became too hard to negotiate between MLB & the players’ Association. When the season has finally started, every day we are seeing some positive cases come up. The coronavirus case in Major league baseball is not going away. While after testing negative, Marlins are finally hopeful of returning to the season, the Cardinals players & staff members are continuously seeing positive cases. There was another bad news for the Cardinals yesterday. With this, the total number of positive cases soared to 13 including six staff members & seven players.

Another postponed Series.

With another new positive test result, the series that was to happen against the Tigers from Tuesday to Thursday has been postponed. Last week after positive cases were tested, cardinals did not play their series slated to be played against the Brewers. Now another postponement of the club’s series. The major League Baseball recently announced that the number of COOVID-19 outbreak has grown to 13 (six staff members & seven players). Following this announcement, the four-game series has been postponed after the latest round of COVID-19 testing.

The league announced the identities of the six players who have been tested positive in the current round of testing — Rangel Ravelo, Kodi Whitley, Yadier Molina, Junior Fernandez, Paul DeJong & Edmundo Sosa. Each of these players gave prior permission to the league to announce their names.

What Players Said?

Talking about the test results, Yadier Molina said, "I am saddened to have tested positive for COVID-19, even after adhering to safety guidelines that were put in place. I will do everything within my power to return as soon as possible for Cardinals fans, the city of St. Louis, and my teammates. As I recover, I request that you please respect my privacy and family in my absence from the team."

With this postponement of the series, the Cardinals will not be playing seven games in a row which will not be played per the scheduled. Major league baseball is still planning Cardinals to play the Cubs on Friday. The Cardinals have been in quarantine since last Thursday in Milwaukee. The league, says, the regular tests for Cardinals will continue. The tentative schedule for the team to resume its regular season os August 7, Friday, which is to be played against the Chicago Cubs in St. Louis.

Other Team dealing with COVID-19 Outbreak.

The Miami Marlins were the first team to have tested positive for coronavirus with Cardinals being the second. Last week, it started with four Marlins being tested positive, which further grew to 18 over the week. Per the protocols, the incubation process can vary between two and 14 days. The Cardinals are the second from the MLB to be dealing with this spread.

For the league, this is not the only concern, the MLB is all concerned about the Cardinals spreading the virus to its opponents, other team members & the staff members. There were no positive test results in the Twins, and have been on the fields against the Cleveland for four-game series.

With the information on how the virus spreads faster — those who are staying at intimate distances for a prolonged period are at the highest risk of catching the virus infection. Mostly, the virus does not be spreading on the fields when the players are at distance from each other except for a few moments. As of now, the Philadelphia Phillies who had played with marling (the first team to have gotten positive results) had not any player tested positive. Let’s hope for the best and pray for the players & the MLB for the season.
