English Premier League: Matchday 36 EPL Betting Picks

Author: Mansi

The English Premier League is moving along well and is a great way for fans to gear up for the upcoming Champions League and Europa League. But the league still has plenty of betting opportunities open, and Matchday 36 brings us two such matches. Liverpool is the reigning champion, but there are still, Champions League spots up for grabs, and teams are even playing for pride and honor. Let’s not forget the Burnley match which looks all the more interesting after they held Liverpool to a draw recently at Anfield. That is no small feat, which is why Burnley looks wonderful for bets right now.

Chelsea v. Norwich

Norwich is out of the league race and can’t escape its relegation zone standing no matter how hard they try hereinafter. This is after West Ham United beat them last weekend for 4-0 and this pretty much ended their endeavor. That match was Norwich’s seventh defeat in a row, and they’re just playing for pride in their remaining three games.

Chelsea is definitely not one of the sides they would have wanted to go against at this stage. Although Chelsea just got defeated by Sheffield United 3-0 last week, their form is still miles ahead of Norwich’s, and this might just be the chance Chelsea was waiting for to start winning again. Chelsea’s still looking good for the Champions League qualification, but they will go up against more challenging opponents after Norwich. That makes this match all the more important for Chelsea to win. Manchester United is also inching closer to Chelsea’s position, which could topple it’s EPL position. This is an extra reason why Chelsea should look to win this match.

It’s clear that Norwich won’t be playing the Championship next season. Their defensive record is currently the worst in the Premier League. Looking at Chelsea, Willian has scored in four, back-to-back games for Chelsea at home. The team has won five out of seven of its previous home games. While Chelsea’s recent matches don’t evince confidence, they aren’t bad enough to write off against Norwich. The defeat to Sheffield United should have worked as a wake-up call to Chelsea. This match should see them coming out to score goals and will end in a resounding win for Chelsea. If West Ham could do it against Norwich, then so can the Blues. My prediction is a high number of goals from Chelsea, around 3 or 4, with Norwich scoring none.

Burnley v. Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Burnley’s run has been a class act this season. They were the first team not to lose at Anfield this season, which is a big achievement because of how the EPL went. They are currently unbeaten for five games, and their confidence from the Liverpool game should flow into this game too. Their aim will be to inhibit Wolverhampton from gaining too many points, as they have managed to do with other higher-ranked teams. This seems increasingly possible, given how they’ve been undefeated at home in Turf Moor in the past six games.
The Wolves’ are growing desperate. The top six of the Premier League has been shaken up after this week’s fixtures. Wolves’ confidence isn’t high up, but they don’t have a choice to let their guard down against Burnley, especially since they’re playing away from home. Burnley has taken four points in their last two games against Wolves. They definitely look like a difficult team to beat in their current form. Burnley has only lost one out of its last eleven EPL matches. They’ve also managed to keep clean sheets in three out of five of their home games. The Wolves have lost two out of three of their previous matches.

Whom should you pick? Let’s take a look. Burnley was up against some of the most difficult names in the game - Leicester, Arsenal, Tottenham and Sheffield United, until now. But none of these teams could defeat Burnley. That is an achievement in itself, and I doubt that Wolves will be the team to change things up now. The Liverpool draw was iconic in itself, and it sure would have boosted the team morale for Burnley. They could draw with Liverpool, so Wolves shouldn’t be a challenge for them. My prediction is that Burnley will win this game, likely by a narrow margin. I don’t expect Burnley to score more than 2 goals in this game. But the match will end in their favor, making it yet another undefeated match in their streak.
