Analyzing Leicester City's Pre-Season After the Community Shield

Author: Raphael Minter

Leicester City finished their pre-season campaign on Sunday after losing 1-2 to Manchester United in the Community Shield with goals from Jesse Lingard, Jamie Vardy and newly signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Leicester City has become the comeback kings and they deserve all the plaudits and respect they have gotten from football fans.
Their pre-season has been filled with many highs especially from football pundits who do not only subject a team's performances to only wins because losing vital games shows a team numerous ways and helps the team to prepare for the packed season.

Claudio Ranieri has managed Leicester City awesomely and this was evident in matches against FC Barcelona where the team came back from three goals down by pulling two back before Barcelona added a fourth setlling the score as a 2-4 loss to the club.

Leicester's game against PSG was a match that showed them what the UEFA Champions League was going to be like. As Champions being beaten by four goals showed the club that they have a lot of defensive loopholes and they have improved massively from their flaws in pre-season as evident by their game against Manchester United on Sunday.

The big question that has arisen is that would Leicester City be able to retain their crown in a season where they compete in four competitions and thus the English Premier League, the FA Cup, The Capital One Cup and the UEFA Champions League?

Leicester City Faces a Packed Season and Needs More Squad Depth

At the start of the 2014/15 season all Leicester City thought off was surviving in the Premier League and therefore the team had few objectives to meet and could focus on the next game because that was all they had.

This season comes in handy because there might be a great game during the weekend and mid-week comes along with a great match in the UEFA Champions league, something the team has not been accustomed to.

An injury to a key player would have just been missed in the league but the team would also have to make amends in the Champions League.

With all these key decisions to make Leicester City faces a massive season where they need to keep most of their star players and buy new players who would supplement the efforts of stars such as Vardy and Mahrez and contribute immensely to the teams performances in the league and Europe.

Claudio Ranieri and Leicester City have lost the greatest tackler in the modern game to Chelsea but they have the funds to recruit additional talent before the end of the season. Leicester City must buy more players this season because the fatigue that comes with competing in different tournaments in unheralded.

The football world wishes Leicester City the best because the English Premier League kicks off this weekend and it would be nice if the COMEBACK KINGS would be able to do it all over again this season.
