Luis Suarez Looks Poised to End Messi and Ronaldo s Pichichi Dominance

Author: Raphael Minter

Luis Suarez earned the accolade of top striker in La Liga in the 2015/16 season with 40 goals.

La Liga kicked off on August 20 and Barcelona thrashed Real Betis 6-2 with Lionel Messi grabbing a brace and Luis Suarez scoring a hat-trick with Cristiano Ronaldo out injured in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Anoeta.

The main reason Suarez did not win the 2014/15 Pichichi was a result of Barcelona coach Luis Enrique pushing him to the right flank, with Messi at the center and Neymar on the left.

Suarez has demonstrated that he is the best No.9 in the modern game by notching up 50 goals in all competitions in the last campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi takes penalty kicks for their clubs and that plays a huge part in their quest for golden boots.

Suarez Starts La Liga the Same Way He Ended Last Season

Suarez on the other hand scores from open play and barely takes penalty kicks.

On the last match day of the 2015/16 La Liga season, he scored a hat-trick and he has started this season with a hat-trick.

If Suarez continues this form of scoring from every angle he finds himself, then Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi can take solace in the UEFA Champion League Golden Boot because at the moment Luis Suarez is gradually ending their dominance for the Pichichi.

Suarez and FC Barcelona face Athletic Bilbao on August 28 at San Mames when the clock hits 11:15am PST.
