The head coach Brett Brown was fired by the Philadelphia 76ers after the team abysmally underachieved with 43-30 during the postseason. And, this came in when the 76ers have been considered as one of the top contenders. The conference would be looking for some other coach the general manager stated. He further added “I have a tremendous level of respect for Brett both personally and professionally and appreciate all he’s done for the 76ers organization and the city of Philadelphia. He did many positive things during his time here, developing young talent and helping position our team for three straight postseason appearances. Unfortunately, we fell well short of our goals this year, and I believe it is best to go in a new direction.”

76ers going in a new direction.

Brown was fired after the Boston Celtics swept the 76ers sixth-seeded Sixers, and that was in fact expected after such a thing happened. The 76ers are now making their mind to move in a new direction. The search for a new head coach might already have begun who can replace Brown. Brown will always be appreciated for being someone who had always kept optimism at the forefront irrespective of the situation the team said.

Ironically Brown was inducted into the team which was probably the most noteworthy developments in the history of sports during 2013. Brown had so far coached as many as 102 players in seven years of his coaching career. In all these years, there has been tremendous evolution both for players and coaches.

What Elton Brand, Sixers General manager Thinks about this Move?

Brand thinks that this whole process has been a failure. According to him at this point in time, this has all been a failure, and we have not been able to produce a result that we have expected. Surviving in business-like sports is only possible by producing the results. Brand in a statement said that “We are trying to right those wrongs, and make sure we do better.” The team will soon make the changes required and correct what needs to be corrected to reach at the winning side.

Despite the three seasons of tanking to bring the team to a level where the team drafted tradable assets & franchise-altering players, the process could not produce results. With the process, beginning during the 2013-14 season, there has been some questionable trades & head-scratching draft moves. It was believed to be the winning season for the sixers, but that did not happen.

The high-price that sixers have paid all these years did not pay as was expected. Disappointedly in the eastern conference after finishing sixth place, sixers in the opening round of the payoff got swept by the Celtics. The burden of this fell over to the only coach of the Process in its seven seasons, Brett Brown, and he got fired.

What would be the team’s next move?

The next move after firing coach Brett Brown is to look for his replacement. However, the Brand, the general manager thinks that it would not be done in a hurry as it is an important decision for the organization. Brand said that we have time as the NBA & the NBPA have yet not announced the final dates for the draft, the final dates for the 2020-21 season & the free-agency period.

This decision will also make a difference to the free-agency process & the draft with the new coaching staff involved. We cannot find a result-oriented coach in a rush. Apart from finding a coach, the team is also looking forward to tweaking its front-office structure — this is going to be a whole process of making the group stronger. It is that moment for the organization to take time and be clear on where it already is and how far it has to go. The failure has pissed off the entire team, and it must be further done patiently & mindfully.
