Los Angeles Lakers Acquire Point Guard Steve Nash

In a surprise turn of events, the Los Angeles Lakers have reached a deal with the Phoenix Suns to a sign-and-trade deal that will bring star point guard Steve Nash to the Lakers.

Nash will receive a three-year deal worth around $27 million to join the Lakers and the Suns will receive four future draft picks -- first rounders in 2013 and 2015 as well as second rounders in 2013 and 2014. The Suns are trying to make impacts with free agency as well, agreeing to deals with Goran Dragic, Michael Beasley and Eric Gordon to become official on July 11th.

It seems as though the Lakers, as well, are hoping that adding Nash could have an impact on the current roster. Nash is reportedly trying to recruit good friend and veteran swingman Grant Hill to Los Angeles with him. Nash also presents a piece that some players -- such as Dwight Howard and Josh Smith -- involved in trade talks could look at as a desirable teammate.

Nash, 38, has been in the league for 16 years and is a two-time league MVP. His presence on the court should help Kobe Bryant and the other pieces that the Lakers currently have.
