The Pac-12 shelves football, and other sports slated to happen this fall due to the increasing coronavirus pandemic. Talking about this postponement, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said that deep inside everyone was skeptical about the game to happen with the deteriorating condition around but all of us tried to remain positive.

Everyone knew that it is going to be hard playing with the rising number of positive coronavirus cases. All these days, the Conference was waiting for the official announcement from the Power Five conferences. Once this announcement came in, the Pac-12 knew it’s time to call it off.

Big Ten: the first conference to have canceled the Season.

On August 12, 2020, the Big Ten became the first conference to have called off the football fall season. The conference also clarifies with this announcement that it is hoping to play the fall 2020 season in 2021. The conference also took a clear stand on postponing all the sports along with the basketball after it made an announcement on canceling football for fall. Not all the Power Five has pulled down the string of hope, and they are still positive about it.

On August 11, 2020, a conference call was held by Big 12, where it was decided that the season 2020 will be played this fall. The conference decided to release a schedule for the same very soon, which would probably start from September 26, which is normally the fourth week of the month. The SEC is hopeful about playing the season in 2020. However, the conference says that it will do so only after discussing the same with the Pac-12 & Big Ten. In the same vein, the ACC is also hopeful about starting the season on September 12.

ACC, SEC & Big 12 optimistic about Playing the Fall 2020 Season.

With the Pac-12 & Big Ten cancellation, ACC, SEC & Big 12 will have to take all the decisions about the game from here and out. It is definitely going to create pressure on the teams that are hoping to play the season. This is going to be a surprising situation when some teams are playing and some have already canceled the season due to coronavirus.

At this time, we have two conferences which have already opted-out from the season and the other three ready to start the game in September. This has been a mourning phase for college football lovers. Not only for the fans, but it has also been a sad phase for the players, coaches & the sports calendar 2020. No matter if we have an opportunity to see some college football, it is definitely not going to be as intriguing as everyone expects.

The Big Ten & Pac-12, both the conferences are hoping to make up for the 2020 fall season during spring. The worsening coronavirus outbreak has led the two conferences to cancel the season. ACC, Big 12 & SEC are still planning to play fall 2020 from September. Let’s hope that the three conferences that are hoping to play come successful in organizing the season. If not all, we can at least watch some of our favorite players on the ground delivering their best.
