Per recent reports, Jeff Brohm, the Purdue Boilermakers head coach has been tested positive for coronavirus. As his test results were confirmed this Monday, Brohm will be missing the upcoming opener against the Iowa Hawkeyes which is scheduled to be played this Saturday. Right after the test reports came in, Jeff has been living in isolation. He will be isolated from the rest of the team members for at least 10 days.
The Big Ten Guidelines.
According to the guidelines, team members cannot resume football activities without having completed the isolation period after they have posted three consecutive negative coronavirus tests. Before they get back to normal, everyone who gets affected will have to remain in isolation for at least 10 days, after they have passed negative results through three consecutive tests.
Last week, Nick Saban, Alabama Crimson Tide coach tested coronavirus positive. But, he got clearance to work for the Saturday games to be played against the Georgia Bulldogs. Before Nick Saban got this clearance to resume work, he got three consecutive negative tests.
Jeff Brohm on COVID-19 Positive Result.
In a statement, Jeff Brohm said, "Unfortunately it got me. Now I have to recuperate as fast as I can. A few days before the positive test, I was abnormally tired and exhausted, and I just thought that I was tired from work. I didn't really know for sure what was happening, but it really wasn't until Saturday that it started to kick in, and the cold chills, body aches, a little bit of sweating, the chest tightness — really all of the symptoms you hear about — took place, and I knew I was not in good shape quite then and probably would have a positive test the next day and did."
Brohm would only be coaching the game that is to be played against the Illinois Fighting Illini on October 31 only if he has no symptoms and returns three consecutive negative test results. Until Brohm resumes work, Brian Brohm, the offensive coordinator will be the interim head coach. Before Brohm, the college coaches who have tested positive include Florida State's Mike Norvell, Kansas' Les Miles, Toledo's Jason Candle, and Arkansas State's Blake Anderson.
Let’s see if Brohm could resume work until October 31. For the team, the first priority is the health of everyone associated.
