OJ's Missing Heisman Found on the Streets

OJ Simpson’s 1968 Heisman trophy, which has been missing since it was stolen from the USC campus in 1994, has been located and recovered by the LAPD.

USC received a call from an unidentified man awhile back claiming he had the trophy and inquiring how much money he could obtain for returning it. SC officials notified the police and handed over the man’s cell phone number. The LAPD were able to track the man down.

Here’s his story:

He did not steal the trophy. He was in jail at the time it was taken from Heritage Hall. He bought it from another man in 1996 for a burgundy Honda Accord and $500 in cash. He then fell on hard times and wound up homeless. He lost most of his possessions but held onto the trophy. Since 1998 he and the Heisman have been living on the streets.

In December, the man decided to return the trophy for a reward. We don’t think he’ll be getting his 500 bucks back.
