Jadeveon Clowney’s father is being charged with attempted murder after he allegedly fired shots at a strip club employee in South Carolina, according to police.
David Morgan, who served time in prison while Clowney was a teenager, allegedly took aim at the victim Tuesday morning outside the Crazy Horse club in Rock Hill.
According to the police report, Morgan began shooting after he had been kicked out for sitting on the stage.
The victim told police that he returned fire after Morgan started shooting. Two guns were recovered from the scene, and Morgan was found at Piedmont Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his shoulder.
Police charged Clowney’s father with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is set to be in court for bond Tuesday afternoon, the newspaper reports.
Clowney, the No. 1-overall draft pick by the Texans in 2014, grew up in Rock Hill, although much of the time without his father. In 1995, Morgan was sentenced to 15 years in prison after a second-degree burglary conviction. Clowney was 2 years old when his father was imprisoned and nearly 14 when Morgan returned.
Clowney, who battled injuries much of his rookie season in Houston, is currently on the physically unable to perform list after season-ending surgery last year. He’s expected to return to Texans camp later this month.
