Author: Megha

Greg Norman's QBE Shootout PGA Tour at the Tiburon Golf Club in Florida takes place from December 10 to 12. It will have more than twenty players with more than a hundred career PGA Tour victories and ten LPGA wins. More than twelve of the top fifty men's golf players on the planet headline the field, such as co-defending champ Harris English, along with Ian Poulter, Brian Harman, Ryan Palmer, Kevin Kisner, Lee Westwood, Marc Leishman, Corey Conners, Max Homa, Jason Kokrak, Kevin Na, Billy Horschel, and Sam Burns. Matt Kuchar won the QBE Shootout PGA Tour in the previous year while teaming with English. Harold Varner III will be in the field also. This will include LPGA major winner Lexi Thompson who is making another appearance at the QBE Shootout PGA Tour. There will also be former major victors Bubba Watson, Graeme Mc Dowell, and Jason Day.

Past victors include current Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker, Sean O'Hair, and Brant Snedeker. Harman, Poulter, and Day have also won the QBE Shootout PGA Tour in the past. Swafford, Lee, Homa, and Burns will be taking part in the unofficial QBE Shootout PGA Tour for the first time. Norman, the host of the tournament, said, "We are so excited to have the fans back as we prepare for the 33rd edition of the QBE Shootout and 21st at Tiburón Golf Club. The collection of players assembled to compete is very strong. It includes rising stars, major champions, and PGA Tour winners who will deliver an exciting three days of team competition for our global television audience and a first-class hospitality experience for our pro-am partners."

The QBE Shootout PGA Tour will again play a scramble format in the first round. It is a modified alternate shot format on the second day and then a final-round ball session on Sunday. CureSearch for Children's Cancer will be the primary charitable donee of the event. The QBE Shootout PGA Tour has raised more than fifteen million dollars for charitable causes for the past thirty years.

QBE Shootout PGA Tour Format

The QBE Shootout PGA Tour is a fifty-four-stroke play event held over three days in which teams of two people compete. The format for the past eight years includes a first-round that is known as the scramble. It is also known as best-shot or Ambrose. Every player in a team tees off on all the holes. The players decide the better shots. Each player then plays the second shot within a club length where the shot came to rest and not any closer to the hole. The process is repeated until the hole is done. The second round is known as Greensomes or modified alternate shot. It is also called Scotch foursomes. The teams have only one ball per team. They take alternate shots till the hole is done. But both players tee off on each hole. The better ball is opted for, and alternate strokes are played to finish the hole.

The final round is the better ball or the fourball. Every golfer plays their own ball from where it lies in the whole round. A team's number of strokes for any holes is that of the lowest-scoring team member. It is also called better ball or best ball.

Volunteer Information for QBE Shootout PGA Tour

The success of the QBE Shootout PGA Tour is very dependent on volunteer support. From leaderboards to marshaling, standard-bearers to player shuttles, the QBE Shootout PGA Tour volunteers do everything with a spring in their step and a smile on their faces. Volunteers of the tournament are an elite group. They are a vital element of the exclusive PGA tour in Southwest Florida. But they are also joining Norman in the bout against childhood cancer. You may be interested in volunteering for the tournament. Then, do not hesitate to call the appropriate numbers. You can also visit the official website for more information. Also, note that because of the limited amount of chances available, a waitlist has been created.

Broadcasting History of the QBE Shootout PGA Tour

The QBE Shootout PGA Tour was broadcast originally in the country by CBS and the USA Network. USA broadcasting in the initial round was shown on a tape-delayed basis. CBS handles the subsequent rounds live. At that time, it was only a two-round tourney. The whole nation did not see the final round live. This was because of the commitment of CBS to the NFL. This led to only a portion of the nation seeing the first round as it happened. The rest of the country saw the event starting at 4 PM ET. After several years, the event was shifted to December. It was broadcast live on both NBC and Golf Channel. It stayed on these networks for the next six years. In the following year, the weekend coverage was shifted to Fox, where Norman was an analyst. The broadcast served as a prelude to the coverage in Fox of the US Open. In later years, NBC restarted the weekend coverage.
