Author: Mansi

The Bundesliga sits at the top of the hierarchy in the German football league system, in which the winner qualifies (out of the 18 teams) for the DFL Supercup. The German’s Football League restarted on May 16, under strict guidelines of no spectators and team photos, after the suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While Round 31 is around the corner, the eyes are wandering all over the Internet for picks and predictions. Here, we have a few free hits for you.

Hoffenheim vs RB Leipzig

The match will be held on June 12, 2020, at 2:30 PM Eastern Time.

Leipzig is one of the world-class teams. It has shown its phenomenal performance in the 2016-17 season. They broke a record for being the longest undefeated team i.e. they survived the season 2016-17 without being defeated for the first thirteen league matches.

Since May 16 when the season restarted, RB Leipzig has either faced a draw or a win. The record has not found any loss in its last matches.

The same happened with its last game against Paderborn, the match went to a draw. However, Paderborn put their greater efforts to impede Leipzig from making a goal. But with the coordination of Patrik and Timo, Leipzig made its first goal in the first 26 minutes of the game and maintained the pressure upon Paderborn until the end of the first half.

While at the last moment the score settled on 1-1 when Christian Strohdiek (from Paderborn) hit at the center of the goal at 3 minutes before the end of the second half.

Similarly, Hoffenheim faced a draw in its last match against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf began with its first goal in the first 5 minutes of the game. After 11 minutes, Hoffenheim balanced the score in the first half. While Düsseldorf was struggling for another goal, Hoffenheim scored the net with the help of Steven Zuber in the mid of the second half.

Rouwen (Fortuna Düsseldorf) balanced the scoreboard with a left-footed shot 14 minutes before the end of the match and settled a draw.

Prediction.

Nordtveit (Hoffenheim) received the yellow card before Düsseldorf scored its last goal to equal the score, showing Hoffenheim’s inability to play under pressure.

However, RB Leipzig is good at maintaining pressure on its opponents from the beginning of the match. Hoffenheim’s last match against Düsseldorf also showed the team’s inability to lead the first half which can be advantageous for Leipzig.

Hoffenheim can try to turn the game towards the draw, but Leipzig might discard their practice.

Thus, Leipzig has better chances of winning against Hoffenheim.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Schalke 04

The match will be held on June 14, 2020, at noon EST.

Since the re-opening of the 2020 season, Leverkusen has faced two losses against Munchen and Wolfsburg.

In the last match against Bayern Munich, where Leverkusen faced a loss with a score of 2-4. Munich started with the ball’s takeover but Leverkusen managed to hit the net first within the nine minutes of the match’s beginning. Later, Munich settled the score within the next 18 minutes.

After its first goal against Leverkusen, Munich scored 3 more consecutive hits, and successfully maintained pressure on Leverkusen in the first half. With the beginning of the second half, Munich scored another goal and created a huge gap to cover for its opponent.

However, Leverkusen jumped back and hit its second net near the end of the second half. The match ended as Leverkusen 2-4 Munich.

Coming to Schalke, it has lost four matches against Werder Bremen, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Augsburg, and Borussia Dortmund while facing a draw against Union Berlin in its last match.

FC Union Berlin started with a first goal in the first 11 minutes of the game, thanks to Robert Andrich. And Schalke balanced the score in the next 17 minutes of the first half. Both of the teams put their efforts and struggled to make another goal in the second half to push the play beyond the draw.

The score settled at 1-1 with the last whistle of the match.

Prediction.

Now, if we compare Leverkusen’s performance with Schalke 04 from the re-opening of the season, Leverkusen has a better foot than Schalke.

Leverkusen has a fair chance of winning the match as they possess better takeover on the ball from the beginning of the match while Schalke couldn’t make a single win in its last five matches.

However, Schalke can lead a match to the draw as its blocking power cannot be ignored, which we noticed in its last draw with Berlin.

Thus, choose Leverkusen over Schalke.
