Betting On Soccer: Best Soccer Bet Types 2020

Betting has always been a fun pastime, no matter which sports it is attached to. Many people have taken to soccer in the past few months, whether it was because of all sports being canceled globally or because we were all stuck indoors. If you’re new to the game or betting on soccer game outcomes, we have put together a list of the best types of soccer bets available. Depending on the site you used to place your bets, you might have several options to choose from. This guide will help you enter the foray safely and with some knowledge of how things are done in this sport.

Many of the available bets online are fairly straightforward - you don’t need extended knowledge or knowledge of jargon to get these bets going. This is beneficial if you are just starting out or if you are only in it recreationally and aren’t willing to lose sleep over your calls. But to understand betting in a deeper manner, even if you aren’t likely to place these complex bets, will do you good as you can deduce fan sentiment by reading prevailing odds. Here are some of the best bet types:

Handicap / Asian Handicap

This deals with full-time scores as the basis but is more complex than just betting on who will win the match. The wagers here are driven by the total number of goals from each side. You are allowed to add or deduct goals from your wager and this will change the odds accordingly. Take an example of team A versus B. If A is the clear favorite to win the match, the options offered in this wager will be to reduce the number of goals that A is likely to score and add the number of goals that B is likely to score.

So if you bet that A will win -1, that means the total score needed is at least 2 points higher in favor of team A. If the match ends 3-1, you will have won the wager. But if it ends 2-1, you will lose because your wager of -1 means you think there will be at least one goal in addition to the one scored to win the game. This means if you wager -2 or -3 in favor of A, they need to win by 3 or 4 more goals respectively. The rules are reversed when you bet on Team B as they are expected to lose. If you bet +1 on B, B only needs a draw against A for you to win.

Corners

A bit different from other bets available, corners are for wagering on which team will get more corners than the other (in the handicap method, i.e. A will get 2 more corners than B is a wager for A -2). There are other types to wager on, including the total number of corners awarded in the match to both teams. Adding this to the betting experience makes it more varied and interesting, as you don’t have to hold your breath for goals alone. This also brings more opportunities where you are not sure about which team holds the advantage, or if you’re convinced that the match will end in a draw. If you follow the soccer season regularly, you will have enough knowledge about how players convert (and don’t convert) their goals and therefore bet on the corners they get awarded. It is much easier to predict to the T rather than a final score or a half time score which means you can make more money.

Double Chance

One of the most lucrative and safe bets to play, this means that you can wager on two out of three possible outcomes of the match. The outcomes are Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw. Your options for betting will include - Team A wins/ Draw, Team A/Team B wins, Team B wins/ Draw. Although this may sound silly as you are given two turns to predict the outcome of the match, it is still offered because soccer games often end in draws.

However, the winnings from such wagers are typically lower than more accurate wagers. This can be one way to get started but is not lucrative enough to continue. You can progress to more specific goal-based bets too, such as to win to nil - where you need your team to win and for the opponent to lose without scoring a single goal.
