Soccer Picks and Predictions For La Liga Week 32

Author: Priyanka Saxena on Jul 07,2020

Soccer has seen a fantastic couple of days, with games resuming across leagues. We saw Liverpool winning the EPL, Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga and were crowned the champions, and Serie A looks increasingly in favor of Juventus after Juve scored another three points to widen the gap between first and second place. La Liga is looking more interesting than ever, with the two big weights - Real Madrid and Barcelona, in a title chase with both teams tied with each other at 68 points each. Let’s see what Week 32 holds for La Liga and where you should place your bets.

Espanyol v. Real Madrid

A David and Goliath match like no other, this away game shouldn’t be a tough affair for Real Madrid. Their record has been spotless this whole season, winning all their games after the restart of La Liga. Espanyol, unfortunately, is at the very bottom of the table, and a home game advantage is also redundant given Real Madrid’s form. Madrid’s most recent match was a 2 - 0 win against Mallorca, and Espanyol suffered a narrow defeat to Real Betis. The forms of both these teams' after games resume shows us that Madrid will happily walk away with their three points after this game, which means Barcelona has to do the same to keep up their tie.

Celta Vigo v. Barcelona

The other important match (with respect to the title race) this week is Celta v Barcelona. An away game for Barcelona shouldn’t be an issue as they’re playing against a team placed at the near bottom of the standings, in 16th place. Barcelona has a lot of riding on this game, as they have to keep up with Real Madrid. They have been in form and winning games of late, but their wins do not show much form or ability. It almost seems like they’re winning out of sheer luck rather than performance. Celta’s race is a different one, as they will be looking to move out of the bottom five of the league and finish at a respectable position. They have shown some promise over the past three games, so, they could spring a surprise in Barcelona. But the away team is the favorite for this game too.

Sevilla v. Real Valladolid

Sevilla has fallen from its fourth-place position after their recent 2-2 draw while playing against Villareal. They have some slack to pick up after that performance, and this might as well be the match to do that for Julen Lopetegui’s men at home. Real Valladolid, owned by Ronaldo Nazario, tied with Getafe during their midweek match last week, with a score of 1-1. However, they are still no match to Sevilla regarding rankings, as they are 15th in the table. This alone should help us decide that Sevilla is the team to Bet on in this match. This, with one caveat. Both the teams have been performing poorly ever since the league resumed, so this might be a low score game. But the game should still end in favor of Sevilla.

Athletic Club v. Mallorca

The home team comes from a narrow 1-0 loss against Barcelona and is currently in 10th place on the table. They will be hosting Mallorca at San Mames this week and will do so hoping to move into the single-digit standings. Mallorca’s form is no better, as they lost 0-2 to Real Madrid recently, and are currently stuck at a much lower league standing, in the 18th place. Both the teams have suffered recent losses to the giants who are racing ahead in the title race, which might have them both fired up to play their best. Mallorca needs this more than the hosts as they might just end up at the bottom of the table if they don’t turn their losing streak around. However, the odds lie in favor of the hosts this time.

Osasuna v. Leganes

The pressure is on the Leganes this game as they can claim the relegation place after Mallorca’s fall. Osasuna just got back to winning, with their 1-0 win against Alaves. But they are still stuck in 11th place. But if their form has truly improved over the break, they will be able to prove it by playing their best against the Leganes. Leganes’ most recent game can be described as uneventful at best, as they played a 0-0 game against Granada. With how both teams are faring, it is possible that this game may also end in a stalemate.
