Betting Predictions For English Premier League Matchday 34

Matchday 34 for the English Premier League holds a fair bit of interesting matches, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool all playing this week. With Liverpool just coming out of their Champions League win, they do have the chance to move ahead smoothly, but let us take a look at each of the most interesting fixtures to determine who you should be betting on this week.

Leicester City v. Arsenal

On Tuesday, both these teams will go head to head with Arsenal playing at home. Look at their head-to-head performances, and that is more than sufficient to understand why the bets are on Arsenal. Leicester did win in the past two games that both the teams played against each other, but they were both away games for the Gunners. After Mikel Arteta has arrived at the club, Arsenal is slowly but surely moving towards its expected level of performance, and form. This is the same problem that has been plaguing United throughout the season.

To put things into perspective, take a look at the winning streak that Arsenal has been able to maintain at home. Under Unai Emery, they could only win three games at home. But after Arteta came in, they have been able to win five out of their seven home games. Add to this advantage, Arsenal has beaten Leicester at home in their past nine games. This should be enough to bet on Arsenal, although you should bet a draw on a bet to play it safe.

Crystal Palace v. Chelsea

Let us first look at Chelsea’s form in the games after the season resumed. Frank Lampard and his boys could not get the job done when they played their opponents West Ham, which led to quite the frenzy that Chelsea is out of shape and talent. However, their next game was against Watford, which they were easily able to win and scored the three points from the match. While playing Crystal Palace, the Blues are likely to expect another easy three points from the match.

While their Watford match was a reverse fixture that ended in a comfortable 2-0 victory in favor of Chelsea, it is easy to compare this match to the Crystal Palace fixture. Palace is lagging behind and isn’t going to win anything (except, maybe, fans' hearts) if they ramp up and play their best game now. They are clear of the relegation zone by a solid 15 points, so that isn’t in question here either. Any last-ditch effort won’t be worth it for them because it could only lead to unwanted injuries.

Crystal Palace is having a decent run right now, after thrashing Bournemouth 2-0, even though they are both stuck around the same part of the standings. But this isn’t enough for them to get a spot in the European competition next season. Their chances of relegation are too low, given that they are much higher in the standings and by over 15 points.

My prediction lies strongly in favor of Chelsea. While they might be somewhat lacking in defense, their attack is more than sufficient for them to win this game. The Chelsea midfield is likely to spread out wing play too and this will add to their advantage of keeping possession of the ball. Chelsea is likely to win this game with at least 2 goals more than Palace.

Sheffield United v. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Both these teams have had the most inconsistent performances of the season, because of which it is hard to chalk which one is likely to win over the other. This has also put these teams in the top four teams with the most drawn games this season. The Wanderers are stuck in the mid-table or faring slightly better, but Sheffield may just have the chance to clinch a top-six spot for itself and progress to the Europa League if it wins this game. The teams have shown that they can score, but aren’t dynamic enough to score many goals or enough to turn a game in their favor.

The last time they went head to head, they drew the match 1-1. However, that was played in Wolverhampton, and this time, the game is in Sheffield. And Sheffield seems to have actual home advantage, as they have managed to win more games than a draw at home this season. Most of their winning games have also come from this season. My prediction is the game will end in another draw, despite the home advantage because Wolverhampton is a well-matched opponent.
