Ronaldo Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Portuguese Football Federation in an announcement said that the star athlete Cristiano Ronaldo has been tested positive for coronavirus. Right after getting the positive report, Ronaldo has quarantined himself. The superstar player is following every point of the protocol as directed by the medical experts of the federation. At the beginning of the month, two staff members from Juventus were tested positive for coronavirus who went on to self-quarantine themselves. 

Ronaldo gets Separated from the Team. 

After testing positive Ronaldo was separated from the rest of the team. He will remain in isolation until the reports come out to be negative again. While he was asymptomatic & in good health, per the protocols he was kept in isolation. After the reports came up, he moved back to Italy (where he will be finishing his isolation period) via a medical flight. In a statement, Juventus said, "Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Italy with a medical flight authorized by the competent health authorities at the request of the player and will continue his fiduciary isolation at his home.”

The test results came in two days before the match that was to be played against Sweden in Lisbon. After another level of test results came in that confirmed the positive result, Ronaldo was dropped from the squad, which included the match against Spain & France. Apart from Ronaldo, no other team member has been tested positive for coronavirus. After Ronaldo tested positive for coronavirus, he started with his isolation from the training center itself.

Per the latest reports on Ronaldo contracting COVID-19, the star athlete is asymptomatic Ronaldo has played against Spain last week, and last he played on Sunday against France in the Nations League. Due to the COVID-19 positive report, Ronaldo had to miss the match against Sweden, which was played on Wednesday. The 35-year athlete will also have to miss other matches to be played by Dynamo Kyiv for Champions League Group play & the  Crotone for Series A. 

With this latest news of the star player whose sports skills have influenced almost the entire world, it is a reminder that the pandemic is very much still there. And, we need to keep adhering to the protocols - wearing masks, maintaining social, distance, and sanitizing our hands. The federation is hopeful of Ronaldo getting well soon and recovering from the pandemic. While most of us have started acting as if the pandemic is over, we must remind ourselves that it is not going to be over until we get a vaccine. So, whenever you are going out and meeting people make sure that you are wearing a mask, and are maintaining social distance.
