Matt Hummels has signed for Bayern Munich and would be wearing their colors in the 2016/17 season.
Bayern Munich has been trying all they could to win the Uefa Champions League after claiming the trophy in 2012/13 season. Bayern have failed to three Spanish teams in the process and most of the problem came from the defense. The famous 4-0 routing by Madrid and a 3-0 loss to Barcelona summed up Bayern’s defensive woes.
Matt Hummels would be a great addition to the squad and would strengthen the defense. His partnership with Jerome Boateng would also create a lasting partnership since they played together at the Euro 2012, FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 and Euro 2016, the latter two where they partnered up in central defense.
Matt Hummels Brings Decency to the Backline
Communication between goalkeepers and defenders are keys to strengthening every team. Manuel Neuer would develop that same telepathic understanding for the central pair something he is doing at the Euro 2016.
Hummels tackles, have a great eye for passing and intercepting, has great composure and knows how to mark defenders out of games.
In the Uefa Champions League the experience of Hummels would also prove vital. Having played in the final in 2013 and losing to his current team Bayern, he knows how to get there but lacks the feeling of being the winner, something he aims to change and fight for at Bayern.
At Borussia Dortmund, he won all there was to win in German football and at Bayern Munich he has an equal chance of winning the Champions League and joining a host of players that have achieved that feet.
With the strength being possessed by Spanish teams at the moment and the amount of money being injected into the English Premier League, Bayern Munich stands out as the only German team that can compete for the Champions League.
For Hummels, it is either winning with Bayern Munich or no other team. Hummels spent eight seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
