MLB Predictions For Bettors: San Francisco Giants vs. Houston Astros

Author: Mansi

The San Francisco Giants will face off against the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball at Minute Maid Park for game 2 of a 3-game series. On Monday, the Houston Astros took down the San Francisco Giants by the final score of 6-4. The Giants will look to rebound after a loss in their series finale against the Dodgers. Kevin Gausman allowed one run in three hits while striking over 6.2 innings.

The teams have faced each other just eight times since the Astros moved to the American League in 2013. Originally they weren’t scheduled to meet this season, but the pandemic changed everything. The first pitch of the game will be delivered by Houston’s Lance McCullers. San Francisco still has not announced their starting pitcher but the most logical choice for manager Gabe Kapler is Logan Webb. Logan got the loss for the Giants as he allowed two earned runs through 3.1 innings.

G-Men Ending Long Road Trip

The first two weeks were spent mostly on the road when they were playing their fourth series away from home. They lost the match to Colorado Rockets in the previous week, and when they arrived to play Los Angeles against their all-time rivals Dodgers. Players except for Mike Yastrzemski and his partner Donovan failed to give much effort for his team.

The match would turn out to be Webb’s regular day to take the mound and of his starts have gone into San Francisco’s win column. He finally made it through the fifth inning allowing one earned run on four hits at Coors Field, striking out four without a walk in a 4-3 decision that came with the Giants +155 underdogs on the MLB odds.

Webb’s rookie campaign began with a suspension for PEDs, and he will face the Astros for the first time. It will be his fourth interleague start, counting the one against Rangers, and he has yet to record a decision in the first three.

Astros May Face Some Serious Charges From The League

Houston will return to their home on the back of a 5-game losing streak, and early frustrations may have played a part in their brawl at Oakland where they completed a 3-game sweep. The league is expected to punish Astros batting coach Alex Cintron and potentially others for their incident. Considering the form of the hitters right now, losing their hitting instructor might be a blessing in disguise.

Lance McCullers was sailing along in Arizona, retiring the nine batters he faced. At the same time, his offense pushed them to a 4-0 lead. Then came a disastrous fourth inning when the Diamondbacks scored nine times with eight of those charged to McCullers’ ledger. He followed this with a less than impressive performance in his previous start. Houston hitters once again, giving him a lead he couldn’t take advantage of in a 4-inning, 4-run performance. 2012, 1st round pick will be facing the Giants for the first time in his career.

Will Houston Play Better At Their Home Ground?

During the old time, when baseball was on the hike, the NL West Rivals from 1969 played just eight times on their home ground. The heated rivalry between The San Francisco Giants and the Houston Astros was on the peak and people used to visit the stadium only to see their heated rivalry. But, as per records, Houston won all the four major matches played against their opponents and added a 6-2 advantage in their tally.

It is reported that Brandon Bielak will miss the upcoming match, so it will be a big blow to the team. He started the season very well and earned crucial points for his team against difficult opponents. He won the first match of the game with a lead of 2-0 and his first-innings 10.1. Since the time he arrived at the Astros camp, the group has felt a positive spark, and he used the momentum in his pitching technique. He trained day and night to strengthen his arms and create a difference in the pitching form.

A normal day in Houston is spent under the sun in the scorching heat, and on those particular days, the roofs of the stadium are closed. It is not fully known that Dusty Baker will play Springer in the team or not, but if he does, you can expect a packed stadium.

Final Predictions: It is expected that Houston Astros will lead by an edge because of their in-form lineup.
