NBA Best Bets: Bet Online's NBA Players

Author: Priyanka Saxena on Jul 02,2020

With various sporting events already back on track, although without a live audience, the NBA has also released its schedule. This schedule is changed given the months-long hiatus which players were forced into due to the global pandemic. With betting on players, the most common kinds of bets placed are on who is most likely to win the MVP title and the Rookie of the Year title.

The internet offers up a way for people to Bet on pretty much anything in sports, and lines on players are one such common avenue. If you are keen on placing your bets in this category, looking over more popular categories such as match outcomes, then this should help you determine your decisions.

The MVP Race.

Looking at the scores in the current time, there is no way LeBron James can continue his pursuit of the MVP title. Especially not when Giannis Antetokounmpo is seated comfortably at the top of the scoreboard in points. The shortened season has all but blown the chances of LeBron making a comeback. Even before sports was shut down globally, LeBron was trailing significantly behind Antetokounmpo and betters were so-so on his position and his ability to overtake him. Now, with the shortened season starting, it is clear that LeBron (or anyone else, for that matter), will not be able to overtake Giannis.

Keep in mind, Giannis was awarded the MVP trophy last year as well, and his performance in the previous season was nothing compared to how he’s playing now. His entire team plays a great game, sporting the best record in the league this season. Giannis’ tendency to play both sides of the court, which LeBron never does unless it is a tight match in the fourth quarter, is also something that sets him apart. He is a definite bet for MVP this year as well as back to back MVP trophy winners.

Betting on the Rookies.

There are two popular lines that run on rookie bets. The more popular one is for the Rookie of the Year, and another category this season is for who will be the 8th seed in the playoffs. The latter is a little more complex than the straightforward Rookie of the Year bet. This is because the bet lies on which rookie is capable of scoring how many points in each game he plays, and the added condition that the rookie’s team has to make it to the playoffs. This makes these odds all the riskier, because, if you pin your bets on a certain rookie and his team doesn’t make it to the playoffs, then you instantly lose your wager. So if you intend to place your bets on such lines, make sure to do it very carefully.

The risks involved, and the current scenario points to these bets in Ja Morant’s way. His team is more than likely to make it to the playoffs because the only other team capable of catching up is the Pelicans. The issue with the Pelicans is that several players were injured, and while the time off may have been enough for them to heal, the Grizzlies have also had the time off to better their form. The Pelicans need many things to work in their favor for them to be able to win this season.

Moving to the simpler and more straightforward odds - the Rookie of the Year. Ja Morant is again the top runner for this title. The only way this will slip out of his fingers is if the New Orleans team makes a comeback. The issue? They’re too late to hope for a comeback. Even if New Orleans is able to pull through (although it would require a miracle for them to get into the playoffs over Memphis), that still won’t take away from shining stats that Ja Morant’s season shows.

The second person in the race for this title is Zion, but the sheer difference in Morant and Zion’s stats - Morant’s 59 appearances and Zion’s 19, shows that he can’t catch up. That is 40 games less than Morant has played. There is no way Zion could make up for this, no matter how many future games he plays. Morant also has the uncanny ability to make the match work in his favor, no matter the lineup for his team on any given day. It doesn’t matter to him if his teammates are in much poorer form than he is, as he is able to continue his spree with relative ease.
