NFL Draft Grades 2021

Minnesota

NFL Draft Grade 2021: A

Day 1 grade: A+

Day 2 grade: A-

Day 3 grade: B+

Draft picks

Virginia Tech OT Christian Darrisaw (No. 23 overall)

Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond (No. 66)

North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt (No. 78)

Ohio State G Wyatt Davis (No. 86)

Pitt DE Patrick Jones II (No. 90)

Iowa State RB Kene Nwangwu (No. 119)

Cal S Camryn Bynum (No. 125)

Florida State DE Janarius Robinson (No. 134)

Iowa WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette (No. 157)

Central Missouri TE Zach Davidson (No. 168)

Pitt DT Jaylen Twyman (No. 199

The team addressed their requirement at left tackle and got two third-rounders and gave up a fourth-round pick in a good first-round trade with the New York Jets. Mond gives much-required depth behind Kirk Cousins. The team did well with the other third-round picks. Surratt is a great replacement for Eric Wilson. Davis is a robust guard the squad thinks will steady the O-line. Jones gives strength to the edge. Nwangnu gives depth at returner but was chosen a round earlier than he should have. Bynum is a good defensive back who has played cornerback at Cal but was chosen at safety, which should align more with his strengths. But his tackling must be improved to be reliable in the chosen position. Robinson has the speed and length that gives him a chance to be the squad's top choice after Darrisaw. Davidson has nimble feet and a talent to win down the seam.

New England

NFL Draft Grade 2021: A-

Day 1 grade: A

Day 2 grade: B+

Day 3 grade: B+

Draft picks

Alabama QB Mac Jones (No. 15 overall)

Alabama DT Christian Barmore (No. 38 overall)

Oklahoma DE Ronnie Perkins (No. 96)

Oklahoma RB Rhamondre Stevenson (No. 120)

Michigan LB Cameron McGrone (No. 177)

Missouri S Joshuah Bledsoe (No. 188)

Colorado OG William Sherman (No. 197)

UCF WR Tre Nixon (No. 242)

For months, everyone thought Jones would be the best fit in the team because of his similarities to Tom Brady. With the 49ers dropping Jones at No. 3, Bill Belichick waited in the draft and got the passer from Alabama waiting at No. 15. Jones does not have to be Tom Brady to get success. But he needs to be the accurate passer that the offense, and the team, require at the moment. Barmore showed potential as a quality starter. But time will tell whether leaving a couple of fourth-round picks to move up nearly nine spots to get him was the right choice than finding out which D-linemen were present at the original slot. They got a top talent in Perkins in round 3. Stevenson has running power which complements James White, Damien Harris, and Sony Michel. In our opinion, he was a good pick, but the team could also have gone for a receiver or a corner. McGrone is the usual linebacker prospect for the team who can do a lot under Belichick. Sherman also fits the mold of other linemen of the team. Let us see if it works in the coming weeks of the NFL.

New Orleans

NFL Draft Grade 2021: B-

Day 1 grade: C

Day 2 grade: A-

Day 3 grade: B

Draft picks

Houston DE Payton Turner (No. 28 overall)

Ohio State LB Pete Werner (No. 60)

Stanford CB Paulson Adebo (No. 76)

Notre Dame QB Ian Book (No. 133)

Kentucky OT Landon Young (No. 206)

South Alabama WR Kawaan Baker (No. 255)

The team got a young defensive end in Turner in the first round. They overlooked more highly rated picks in the process. They grabbed a couple of solid defenders in Adebo and Werner. This made for a good draft overall. But it will have to be seen if trading up for the former cornerback from Stanford was a viable choice than just getting a different corner and keeping the third-round compensatory pick. Book is an undersized quarterback who has gotten better in his decision-making over his career and has the competitive nature and toughness to be a robust backup in the NFL. Getting an offensive tackle was necessary on the third day, and Young is a good player who can play on both sides of the line. The team liked him enough to use a couple of picks on him. Baker's athleticism got him a late-round slot. But the team should continue going after consistent receivers after the draft also.

Giants

NFL Draft Grade 2021: A

Day 1 grade: A+

Day 2 grade: A

Day 3 grade: A

Draft picks

Florida WR Kadarius Toney (No. 20 overall)

Georgia OLB Azeez Ojulari (No. 50)

UCF CB Aaron Robinson (No. 71)

Northern Iowa OLB Elerson Smith (No. 116)

Arizona RB Gary Brightwell (No. 196)

Oklahoma State CB Rodarius Williams (No. 201)

The team got another great receiver to their squad in Toney after trading down nearly ten spots and getting first and fourth-round choices from the Bears next year. They also got a fifth-round pick in this draft. You cannot ask for more than that. General Manager Dave Gettleman took a considered risk on the former Bulldog. He calculated Ojulari's medical issues would not eclipse his talent as a run defender and a rusher. Robinson could have also been off the board many spots earlier. Smith gives the team another long pass rusher to go with Ojulari. Brightwell has speed, but he must improve his ball security to become a reliable backup to Saquon Barkley. Williams is not an elite athlete. But Greedy's brother is a good outside defender who could have been chosen a couple of rounds earlier.

Jets

NFL Draft Grade 2021: B

Day 1 grade: B+

Day 2 grade: A-

Day 3 grade: C

Draft picks

BYU QB Zach Wilson (No. 2 overall)

USC OG Alijah Vera-Tucker (No. 14)

Mississippi WR Elijah Moore (No. 34)

North Carolina RB Michael Carter (No. 107)

Auburn S Jamien Sherwood (No. 146)

Duke S Michael Carter (No. 154)

Pitt CB Jason Pinnock (No. 175)

Florida State S Hamsah Nasirildeen (No. 186)

Kentucky CB Brandin Echols (No. 200)

Arkansas DT Jonathan Marshall (No. 207)

Wilson has a great physical skill set that could lead to an incredible career. But he will always be compared to his draft classmates Trey Lance and Justin Filed. The team traded up to the middle of the first round for Vera-Tucker. He is a great lineman who will have to show he was worth the cost the team finally paid to the Vikings. Moore can be a player this season and in the future. But Javonte Williams would also have been a good choice. Despite not getting Williams, the team got his former UNC colleague in the fourth round. They got robust value on the right-back, who could have been an early third-round pick also. He will give competition in the backfield in this season of the NFL.
