Vince Wilfork Wants Release from Patriots

It's been 10 seasons in the NFL for defensive lineman Vince Wilfork and all have been spent with the New England Patriots. That era will now come to an end, however, as the five time Pro-Bowler has asked the team to grant him his release. Scheduled to earn $7.5 million next season, the final year on his contract, Wilfork missed all but four games last season due to a torn Achilles. Now, the 6-foot-2, 325 lbs. monster with uncommon athleticism for a man his size is hoping to start fresh somewhere new after the Patriots had approached him regarding altering his contract to save cap space. At 32 years old and coming off a serious injury, it will be interesting to see what Wilfork will be able to get in free agency should New England grant him his release. Either way, one of the top run-stuffing defensive lineman should be on the move very soon.
