Author: Priyanka Saxena on Jun 11,2020

Golf has witnessed a long-predicted pause for a long time. Now things are getting better, and we can watch our favorite players making a comeback. Before, this golf game got halted during World War II. However, now it is time to restart, and play will resume with the PGA tour making its way.

Charles Schwab’s challenge will be the first big event at the PGA tour this week. Charles Schwab Challenge will be played at the beautiful city of Texas in the Colonial Country club. It will start on June 11 till June 14. It will be the first big event after the lockdown.

Three Vital Things To Know

1. Ghost Colonials:

The threat of COVID is still around and while resuming the sports, the safety measures should be taken so that no one gets infected. For that, no fans are allowed to enter the Country Club. Another factor is that production and broadcasters are not yet at their full capacity. So issues related to broadcasting may occur. However, the CBS Sports which is a primary broadcaster for PGA Tour has given a statement to bring things back to normal very soon.

2. Increased temperature:

Time is already lost and hence we have entered the hot climatic season. Generally, the PGA Tour isn't hosted in Texas when the climate is really hot. Still, we cannot control everything and hence players need to accommodate themselves in such situations. We will find out this week how the condition affects players, and how players overcome such situations.

3. COVID WDs:

No one is 100% sure about the virus scenario, in case of an emergency, players may have to withdraw back in the middle of the tour. Right now health and safety are measure issues to deal with. No one wants to risk several lives, so all precautions are necessary, and safety measures should be followed strictly.

Here are the top picks for you:

Corey Conners (+17500)

Compared to other players Conners reads the game well his understanding and response towards his circumstances are just brilliant. He has really strong control over his long shots. Conners just needs to be himself for a few days and you can see this man doing incredible tasks. He lacks when it comes to using his putter. He has been in good touch and will try to make a good come back and continue from where he has left.

Danny Willett (+12500)

Willet had a magnificent last season he won the BMW PGA championship he was along with some good players like Jon Rahm and Patrick. He was champion in 2016, no one can forget him wearing the green jacket on the winning day of Master Champion 2016. He has lost his track many tracks in the past few years but somehow managed to be in the top 6. Danny would really be the player to watch out for.

Lee Westwood (+8000)

Lee Westwood was in the form of his life and was favorite to become April masters, but unfortunately, pandemic hit and play stopped suddenly. No doubt he will be playing to watch out for and will provide great competition. He is almost 50 but still winning many championships. In the Abu Dhabi championship which was held in January, he dominated and earned another win under his name.

Tommy Fleetwood (+2800)

Tommy Fleetwood is at 6th position in the Sagarin world ranking. He had great seasons as he made up till the final in the US Open and Open championships. However, he has an issue with his putter, and maybe that is the reason for not winning championships. It is undeniable that his presence of mind and capability to read the game is quite appreciably great.

Sergio Garcia (+8000)

Among the last 9 tours, Sergio has missed seven and had ups and downs in his journey so far. However, he was looking good at the start of 2020. He will surely take this time as a good break to make a comeback and play at his potential.

Justin Thomas (+1400)

Justin Thomas is the champion player who won the PGA Championship in 20. August to December is turning out to be great seasons for Justin as he has won 8 of his PGA tours in between that season. He is the winner of two championships in 2019. First was the BMW championship followed by the CJ cup. He continued his purple patch in 2020 as well and won the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
